BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Engineering (Worth up to 28 new UCAS points)

Electronics engineers design and develop the systems used by machines and equipment in lots of industries, from mobile communications and computing to aerospace. If you love electronics and like finding out how things work, this could be a perfect choice of career for you.

The following units in this certificate offer sound knowledge and practical skills in key areas of electronics and microcontrollers:

  1. Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
  2. Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits
  3. Microprocessor Systems and Applications*

If you already have a BTEC level 3 Award, you may upgrade to a level 3 Certificate by completing only 2 additional units from the above for a reduced fee of £315. During your enrolment process, we will confirm with you your choice of units. Select cart below for 2 unit Certificate upgrade enrolment – £315:

Diploma ‘Upgrade’ – additional 3 units

If you already have 3 BTEC certificate, you can upgrade your course to the next level (6 unit diploma) by completing only 3 additional units

Each unit is normally split into 4 sections to make studying easier via our online Moodle education platform. When ready, you will be assessed with 2 assessments that you request from your tutor, so there is no large end of course exam. Also remember you have 12 months of access to your tutor to take you every step of the way

Electronics engineers research, design and develop electronic components and equipment in a range of industries, for example:

  • manufacturing – programmable logic controls (PLCs) and microprocessor controlled machines.
  • telecommunications and IT – mobile phones, radio, TV and satellite communications, PCs, tablets and ATM machines
  • aerospace – avionics, radar, navigation and communication systems

As an electronics engineer, you would assess new developments or innovations to see if they are workable, test prototypes and analyse data.
