Electrical and Electronics Engineering is all about designing, developing and maintaining electrical power and control systems. For example, they provide lighting, heating and ventilation for buildings, they make sure that our transport networks run efficiently and safely, they help to power the manufacturing and construction industries, and they play a crucial role in the production and distribution of power.

We currently offer a standard 6 unit Diploma with the option to upgrade to a 9 unit Diploma if further knowledge and UCAS points are required. Both will be accepted as meeting the entry requirements to our proposed HNC/HND Engineering courses, which we plan to launch in 2017.

6 unit Diploma (up to 56 new UCAS points)

3 unit upgrade from Certificate to 6 unit Diploma

If you already have 3 BTEC units from a Certificate, you can upgrade to a ’60 credit Diploma’ by completing only 3 additional units (the additional units will be depend on what units you have already completed) :

3 unit upgrade to 9 unit Diploma (up to 84 new UCAS points)

If you already have 6 BTEC units such as those listed above, you can upgrade to a ’90 credit Diploma’ by completing only 3 additional units from those listed below:

  1. Electrical Technology
  2. Three-phase Motors and Drives
  3. Principles and Applications of Analogue Electronics or Electrical Installation

Although all your course material will be available online;  you will require some hardware components to complete the practical elements of the PAEDC and EEP units. We will provide a list of components needed, but if you would like us to provide the electronics kit (incl. multimeter) , select the cart below for Electronic Practical Kit – £50:

 

You will also require an oscilloscope / signal generator to complete practical elements of the EEP unit. We will provide a details of suitable instruments, but if you would like us to provide the this, select the cart below for Electronic Instrument Kit – £75:

 

Each unit is further split into 4 sections to make studying easier via our online Moodle education platform. You will be have 2 assessments for each unit. The above prices exclude the Edexcel BTEC registration fee (see support page for details).
