BTEC Level 3 Foundation Award in Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineers design, maintain, repair and operate everything we need in our daily lives. They provide efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plant, machinery or vehicles. They can work on all stages of a product, from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning.
Most industries rely on a form of mechanical systems and mechanical engineering is thought to be one of the most diverse of all engineering disciplines. There are employment opportunities available in a wide range of sectors, such as the manufacturing, power, construction and medical industries. This Award aims to equip you with a solid mechanical knowledge as included in the following 3 units:
- Applications of Mechanical Systems in Engineering
- Engineering Secondary Finishing Techniques
- Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
Each unit is normally split into 4 sections to make studying easier via our online Moodle education platform. You will be assessed with 2 assessments that your tutor will send you on request, so there is no large end of course exam. Also remember you have 12 months of access to your tutor to take you every step of the way. Alternative units are available on request

Upgrades
If you already have a Tecol level 3 1-unit Award, you may can upgrade to a level 3 units by completing only 2 additional units and getting registered with BTEC. During your enrolment process, we will confirm with you your choice of units.
